A Nation Builds - Contemporary German Architecture was published by the German Library of Information in New York City in November 1940. During the Third Reich, the German Library of Information in New York published a lot of English language material about Nazi Germany, familiarizing the American public with the Third Reich, its leaders, its politics, culture, art, customs and history. On 11 December 1941, the US Congress declared war on Germany just hours after Germany declared war on the US in the aftermath of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Very quickly, the American Consulate and the German Library of Information in New York were closed for the duration of the war.
