These OKW Soldatenblätter für Feier und Freizeit were meant to be read and shared, but this example clearly was not. It is complete and in very nice condition and still has the two original Third Reich Feldpost postcards with frontline soldier art by Unteroffizier Julius Nordmann stapled to the back cover. This is rare as they were meant to be torn off and sent home by soldiers serving at the front. These WW2 Nazi postcards sell for $10 - $15.00 individually on postcard websites.

This is an original World War II example of Soldatenblätter für Feier und Freizeit (Soldier Publication for Celebration and Leisure) published by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces High Command) in early 1942. The 6-¾ x 9-¾ inch, 58 page softcover heavily illustrated book contains stories written by and for members serving in the German Wehrmacht.

There are illustrated stories about military life in the Soviet Union with titles such as "Soviet Russia as seen through German Eyes", "Dismal Culture" and "Grim Land". Another story is about the experiences of a railroad employee coming out of retirement to fill the job of a younger man who was called up for military service.

There are stories about toys and art created by soldiers, songs composed by Wehrmacht members, and photos of idyllic scenes from the home front. The back cover has a patriotic quote by Adolf Hitler and a fine watercolor by Gefreiter Fritz Brauner (above). There are cartoons, chess games, songs and poems, puzzles and brainteasers, etc. Page 48 has the solutions for the puzzles and brainteasers that were in the November-December 1941 issue.

This rare 80+ year old Nazi soldier publication was printed by Bibliographisches Institut of Leipzig. It is in very nice little-used condition, no writing, no odor.
