This is a very nice original 2nd style Nazi military Wehrpass (Service Record and Photo ID) issued on 3 March 1942 to a priest named Franz Pöpperl. Pöpperl was born on 15 October 1897 in Langerberg in the Eger District of Czechoslovakia but when this Nazi military ID was issued, that Sudetenland area was part of Hitler's Greater Germany.
The ID photo in this 77 year old Wehrpass shows Pöpperl wearing his clerical collar. The photo is correctly overstamped on two corners with the eagle and swastika stamp of Wehrmeldeamt Tachau, just east of Flossenbürg concentration camp. That town is called Tachov today and is in the Czech Republic.
It does not appear that Pfarrer Franz Pöpperl was ever called up for service. This rare Nazi Wehrpass is in very good, like-new, very slightly used condition.
Franz Pöpperl was educated as a priest, spoke and wrote Latin and Greek as well as a little French. He was a World War I veteran and in 1918 ended his service with the rank of Leutnant. His father, a farmer, was deceased and his mother Barbara was still alive when this Wehrpass was issued.
This Nazi Wehrpaß issued to a priest in 1942 is **SOLD**
