127 Jahre Eisernes Kreuz 1813/14, 1870/71, 1914/18, 1939/40 (127 Years of the Iron Cross) is a splendid Third Reich book by Arthur Reichel explaining the origins of the Iron Cross, an explanation of how the decoration was to be worn, who qualified for it and the symbolism of the German Iron Cross. The 5-7/8 x 8-1/8 inch, 76-page softcover book was published and printed by Verlag Dittert & Co Dresden and this is a rare First Edition from 1940. It has a German text and 57 illustrations, many in five colors, showing Iron Cross medals and decorations.
This example of 127 Jahre Eisernes Kreuz is in very fine condition, still covered in its original Third Reich protective glassine wrapper. It also comes with a 1941 catalog of the many books published by Verlag M. Dittert of Dresden, including this one. This book is listed in the catalog along with reviews from the Völkischer Beobachter used as sales copy. A review in the Thüringer Zeitung stated the book would be the perfect gift for any recipient of the Iron Cross!
