This is an excellent original example of the 6 x 8 -1/4 inch, very heavily illustrated, 164 page, full-color 1943 hardcover original Third Reich military medal reference book Die Auszeichnungen des Grossdeutschen Reiches - Orden - Ehrenzeichen - Abzeichen (The Emblems of Greater Germany - Orders - Badges of Valor - Insignia of the Greater German Reich) by Dr. Heinrich Doehle as published by the Berliner Buch und Zeitschriften Verlag in Berlin. |

Doehle was an SS-Oberführer and the Ministerial Director of the Presidential Chancellery of the Führer and Reichs Chancellor so he knew more than anyone about Nazi orders, Nazi medals and Nazi badges. |

| This example of the Doehle masterpiece is a full-color hard cover First Edition from 1943 which superseded all previous editions. The 1943 edition contained new medals which were not pictured or described in the others. This example of the book also includes an eight-page update to show and describe the latest Close Combat badges which were only authorized in November and December of 1942 and complete corrections to errors that were found in earlier editions.

| Some of the medals included are the 1936 Olympic medals, National Prize medals, Orders of the German Eagle, SS medals, Police, Fire and Mothers medals, the Narvik Shield, Grand Cross of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, Oak Leaves of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, German Cross in Gold, German National Order for Art and Science, Hitler Youth badges, Naval badges, Luftwaffe badges, various weapons badges, combat badges, etc., etc. Four pages in full color depict the ribbons of the various medals and orders at their natural size. |

| This is a marvelous example of the very desirable 1943 edition of Doehle’s book with corrections and the supplement. The cover of the book shows some wear and the cloth binding at the back corner of the spine is cracked part of the way. The internal pages of the book are in excellent condition. |
