One of the rarest books in the series of 50 or so Heinrich Hoffmann photo books produced during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler, this 64 page, 7-1/2 x 10-5/8 inch, softcover volume is called Parteitag Großdeutschland (State Party Day Greater Germany). The foreword was written by Reichspressechef (Chief of the Nazi Press) Dr. Dietrich.
With more than 75 spectacular full- and half-page photos, the book documents the last and most extravagant State Party Day held in Germany (September 1938) during the Third Reich. Reichsparteitag Grossdeutschland is widely recognized as one of the largest mass displays and public demonstrations of political will the world has ever seen. This photo document was published as a memento of the event for the millions of Germans who were unable to join the hundreds of thousands that attended in person in Nürnberg.
This FIRST EDITION (1-15 thousand) of Heinrich Hoffmann’s record of the 1938 Reichs Party Day is a very powerful example of how important photographic press coverage was to the Nazi Party.
This book would be a perfect text book for a Masters Degree in Photojournalism.
There are photos of Adolf Hitler and Nazi dignitaries such as Hermann Göring, Rudolf Hess, Reichsührer-SS Himmler, Baldur von Schirach, Dr. Robert Ley, Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Reichsfrauenführerin Scholz-Klink, Dr.Ing. Fritz Todt, Dr. Porsche, Arthur Seys-Inquart, Josef Bürckel, Alfred Rosenberg, Konrad Henlein, as well as Hitler Youth boys and BdM girls, Wehrmacht soldiers on the Zeppelinwiese and marching through Nuremberg, SS men controlling huge crowds waving swastika flags, etc., etc.
The original example of PARTEITAG GROSSDEUTSCHLAND is in very good, tight condition. The dust jacket is a photocopy of an original in our archive.
