Deutsche Luftwacht Luftwissen magazine was published in association with the world-renowned Lilienthal Association for Aviation Research in Berlin by W.S. Mittler & Sohn in Berlin. This is the sister-publication of the magazine Deutsche Luftwacht LUFTWEHR. The price of each issue in Germany was RM 1.00 (40 US cents) and RM1.50 (60 US cents) for subscribers outside Nazi Germany.
Each of these issues of Deutsche Luftwacht LUFTWISSEN also contain an overview of aviation in Nazi Germany in the year 1939, the recipients of the Lilienthal Association for Aviation Research award, the announcement of the death of famous test pilot Dipl.-Ing. Alfred Henke, the 70th birthday of Dr. Krupp, German flying ace Helmut Wick missing in action, tidbits of German and international aviation news, tables with research results, technical illustrations, research notes and photos, as well as aviation book reviews (for example for Handbuch der Luftfahrt 1939, Adler-Kalender 1941 and Luftwaffe schlägt zu!) and job opportunities in the German aviation industry for skilled workers.
World War II had already started when these magazines were published and the Luftwaffe had scored important victories during the Wehrmacht invasion of Poland and Holland, Belgium and France, and Hermann Göring was in charge of all things connected with aviation in Nazi Germany.
