This is an excellent example of the big 7-1/2 x 9-1/4 inch, 216 page, very heavily illustrated linen bound hard cover book ,,Das junge Reich - Vom Leben und Wollen der neuen deutschen Jugend’’ (The Youthful State - Life and Desires of the New German Youth) published by Eugen Frieder Bartelmäs in the mid 1930s.

The book has more than 100 pictures and tables within the text. Naturally, it begins with a photo of Adolf Hitler and Hitler Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach walking through a long row of HJ boys. There follows a boldly outlined list of Hitler-Jugend martyrs killed by Nazi opponents and then covers virtually every subject of interest to Hitler Youth and BdM girls: everything from belief to opportunities to history of the HJ movement.

There are chapters on the aviation HJ, soldiering, the naval HJ, Hitler Youth schooling, the Jungenlager at Eiswaldsee, etc.

There is an inscription presenting this book to a youth Fritz Eifert on one of the blank front pages. The book is complete with its original full-color dust jacket.

This example of ,,Das junge Reich’’ is absolutely basic to any study of the nazi Hitler Youth in National Socialist Germany. Very good condition.
