Österreichische Legion Lager Dachau
Beiträge Vorgeschichte und Geschichte der Julirevolte
Kanzlei Bauhausplatz Wien
Beiträge Vorgeschichte und Geschichte der Julirevolte (Contributions and Background Information on the July Revolution) is a German language book assembled using official government sources, self-published by the Bundeskommissariat für Heimatdienst in Vienna in September 1934. The 6 x 9 inch, 122-page softcover book has eight illustrations and was printed by the Wiener Zeitung (newspaper).
This rare book has detailed about the unsuccessful Putsch of German-backed Austrian National Socialists and members of the Österreichische Legion (Austrian Legion) trying to take over power in Austria on 25 July 1934, causing the death of Austrian Chancellor Engelbert Dolfuss.  The image on the right is a map of the Chancellor's office on the Ballhausplatz in Vienna, the location of his murder.   (After the 1938 reunification of Austria with Nazi Germany, the Nazi Reichsstatthalter had his office here.  It is still the center of Austrian governmental power today.)
The Österreichische Legion was a paramilitary unit composed largely of Austrian National Socialists who fled to Germany (around 14 thousand of them) to avoid prosecution in Austria. Many of them were members of the SA. Once in Nazi Germany, they received military training and weapons from the Wehrmacht, SA and SS at several camps set up in Bavaria. The main training camp was in Lechfeld near Augsburg, but this book also contains two rare photos of Austrian Legionäre being trained in Dachau.
The military training was in preparation for a possible invasion of Austria, and therefor the Austrian government and police were keeping close tabs on the activities of the Österreichische Legion in Germany, members of the Austrian Legion that illegally returned the Austria, their family members and correspondence of Austrian Legionäre to people in Austria.

Beiträge Vorgeschichte und Geschichte der Julirevolte is a rare, in-depth 85 year old book about a little-known subject, directly related to the 1938 Nazi Bewerbungsfragebogen offered on another USMBOOKS web page.  This 1934 First Edition is in nice used condition, no odor.
Österreichische Legion Lager Dachau
The Nazi Party had been an illegal political party in Austria since 19 June 1933, and members of it were persecuted. This book sheds light on details of what led up to the Julirevolution, the planning of it, help for Austrian Nazis from abroad, defiant words by Nazi Minister Dr. Hans Frank while visiting Austria, clashes and terror attacks before, during and after July Revolution in Vienna and other parts of the country, and the paramilitary Österreichische Legion, the Austrian Legion.

Have a look at the Nazi Questionnaire of an Austrian Legionnaire and a fine photo book about the 1938 Nazi Revolution in Vienna, both for sale on USMBOOKS.com.  We are happy to combine shipping to save you money!
