Many history readers, re-enactors and World War II militaria history buffs think only of Scho-ka-kola chocolate when they think of things German soldiers carried in tin cans. In fact, one of the most popular commercial items among German Landsers and Matrosen was a famous little blue and white can of diamond-shaped anti-cough lozenges called Wybert.
Made by GABA and sold under the 3-diamond logo, the strong but pleasant tasting little black lozenges were marketed to quell thirst, freshen breath, and treat coughs for singers, athletes and smokers. The company also advertised very heavily to soldiers in Nazi Germany before and during World War II.
The item we offer here is an authentic Nazi period round tin can that no doubt once held some German soldier's supply of Wybert cough lozenges. Wyberts were very widely advertised to Wehrmacht soldiers, sailors and airmen during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler and the interesting Wybert ad on this USMBOOKS web page is from a May 1940 issue of the Illustrierter Beobachter published by the NSDAP in München (Munich), Germany. The can still contains a few genuine Wybert lozenges and has a part of the original paper band that once sealed the ¾ x 2-¾ inch round tin.
This Nazi era can of Wybert cough lozenges is **SOLD**.
