The Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or National Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Publicity had a very important role in Nazi Germany. Located in a grand office across the street from Adolf Hitler’s Reichschancellery in central Berlin and headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, it was officially in control of all aspects of German cultural and intellectual life and heavily enforced the spread of Nazi ideology. It controlled absolutely every aspect of art, book, magazine and newspaper publication, radio and TV, live theater, movies and music in Nazi Germany.
Unser Wille und Weg (Our Will and Our Pathway) was the Nazi Party monthly magazine for National Socialist enlightenment published by the Reichspropagandaleitung and edited by Dr. Joseph Goebbels. The publication contained articles on the purpose, strategy, methods and effective use of Nazi propaganda. It was published for political leaders of the NSDAP by the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party, Zentralverlag der NSDAP Franz Eher of Munich.
The maroon linen hardcover book offered on this USMBOOKS web page contains all twelve issues of Unser Wille und Weg for the year 1935 (Heft 1 - 12, January - December 1935). The magazines were hard bound with their striking Third Reich front covers, and the 6-½ x 8-3/4 inch book has over 430 pages.
Few collectors or museums own even a single copy of Unser Wille und Weg. It is exactly the kind of material that was extremely important to the leadership of the Nazi Party, and its destruction following World War II was very important to the Allies in their de-Nazification efforts. Very few examples of Unser Wille und Weg magazines published for NSDAP political leaders survive anywhere in the 21st century.
Every issue starts with a chapter called Die Lage which in this case translates as “the situation” or “the state of affairs”.
Some of the subjects covered in these 1935 issues of Unser Wille und Weg are the promotion of Nazi ideology in the work place, practical tips for public speaking by political leaders and teachers, how to properly promote the concept of the Reichsautobahn, propaganda principles, the NSV, the national holiday on 1 May, the virtues of agricultural life, Nazi Party organization in small villages, the role of the TeNo (Technische Nothilfe or Technical Emergency Service) in Nazi Germany, how to deal with fellow party members vying for your position, successful ways to promote Nazi ideology to young Germans, tasks for NSDAP Cell- and Block leaders, professional education, the Reichsparteitag, nature preservation, the Political Leadership of the NSDAP, promoting the idea of large families, the proper way to run a Nazi Party meeting or gathering, the power of radio broadcasts, judicial propaganda, using the WHW charity for propaganda purposes, tips on how to deal with political gossip within the party, Nazi Party propaganda on the street, how to become a Nazi Party Political Leader, the organizational structure of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda in Nazi Germany, etc.
There are a full-page photos of Dr. Frick and the R. Walther Darré, some archival Nazi Party propaganda, new book reviews, order forms for HJ magazines and Nazi calendars, advertising for important Nazi books published by the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party, and the Nazi Party newspaper Völkischer Beobachter.
These bound 1935 examples of Unser Wille und Weg came from the library of the NSDAP Ortsgruppe St. Johannis in Nürnberg, Gau Franken where it was book number NS9a. This number was handwritten above the round rubber stamp of the NSDAP Ortsgruppe St. Johannis on the front fly leaf.
St. Johannis is a section of downtown Nürnberg, the City of Nazi Party Days in Julius Streicher’s Gau Franken. Any prospective purchaser might be interested to know that we acquired this bound 1935 book in a grouping of a dozen or so rare Third Reich publications that were ‘liberated’ shortly after the end of World War II by an American Army Captain working in an office that had been occupied during the Third Reich by staff of Ortsgruppe Nürnberg-St. Johannis.
Very rare 89 year old Nazi Party Political Leader material in very good condition.
Tight spine, no odor.
