Publication of Böhmen und Mähren began in April 1940 under the direction of the Reichsprotektor and German career diplomat, Baron Konstantin von Neurath with Nazi Staatssekretär SS-Gruppenführer Karl Hermann Frank as publisher. It was continued by SS-General Reinhard Heydrich when he took over from Freiherr von Neurath in Prag (Prague, Praha), Czechoslovakia as Deputy Reichsprotector in the fall of 1941, and then under Dr. Wilhelm Frick after Heydrich's assassination. The magazine was printed by major Nazi Party publisher Volk und Reich Verlag in Prague.

Ten of the twelve issues are complete but we noticed when we photographed these Third Reich magazines that a previous owner had removed a total of eight pages containing information about the composer Mozart (pages 399 - 406) from the November 1941 issue. From the December issue, the previous owner removed a four-page article about the crown (pages 427 - 430) and a four-page portion of a novel (Ein Burger in Prag, pages 441 - 444) from the December issue. NEITHER ARTICLE WAS CONNECTED TO THE THIRD REICH PERIOD AND NONE OF THE HEYDRICH OR OTHER NATIONAL SOCIALIST MATERIAL IS MISSING.
The spines of the May, July and September issues of these 77 year old Third Reich Böhmen und Mähren are scotch taped.   Nice used condition overall, and very rare! No odor.
It would be difficult, if not impossible, to overstate the historical value of this complete year of Böhmen und Mähren magazines to any library of printed material related to Reinhard Heydrich, National Socialism, or mid-20th century European history. The original Third Reich magazines offered here were printed in German by the SS in Prague in very limited quantities specifically for circulation within the Protekrorat Böhmen und Mähren and to a select list of high-ranking Nazi Party official outside Bohemia and Moravia. Few examples of the magazine survived the post-war Allied destruction of Nazi literature or the desperate years following World War II when anything combustible was used as fuel for heat and cooking. Fewer yet survived as complete examples assembled by the year of publication. Most people today are unaware that the magazine ever existed in print.

The magazine sets by year offered here on USMBOOKS.com are the only complete sets we have ever owned or offered for sale, and very likely the only sets that we will ever offer for sale. This is a rare opportunity to purchase this 75+ year old material on the open market and that opportunity will not last long.

No shipments to EU addresses. If you are a buyer in the European Union, you need to supply an American address to which we can ship the material.
