This is an absolutely original Ausweis or identity document from Der Kommandant von Gross-Paris issued to a Wehrmacht Unteroffizier named Prinker (Feldpost Nr. 240338) on 25 March 1943. It was valid only one day for visits in the Innenstadt or city center of Paris.
The back of this 3-1/2 x 5-3/8 inch Befristeter Ausweis has the rules and regulations for use. While in Paris Uffz Prinker was billeted at the Hotel Métropolis on 24, Boulevard Rochechouart in Montmartre, near de Sacré-Coeur cathedral.

Every Landser in the German Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS wanted to take a leave in Paris, France during the years that Germany occupied the northern part of the country during World War II, and a great many leaves were granted in the "City of Lights".
