This is an outstanding World War II Germany unit history covering the assault carried out by the Wehrmacht’s 93rd Infantry Division in the invasion of the Soviet Union, called Einsatz im Osten (Mission in the East).
The book consists of beautifully lettered illustrated text between superb multi-color maps of the routes taken by regiments of the division in their trek across Russia to Leningrad in 1941. There is a full-page pencil portrait of General Tiemann at the front of the book and two full-color pictures, unbound, but inserted into the book. The book is bound with a light green cord and has the insignia of the German 83rd Infantry Division on the front cover.
The 10 x 11-7/8 inch, 22 page beautifully illustrated soft cover book was published and presented in the field at Christmas time 1941 at the direction of Knights Cross holder and Division Commander General Otto Tiemann.
