Chapters cover different kind of cars, engine and car part knowledge, traffic rules and regulations, driving on the Reichsautobahn, how to be a responsible motorist, traffic violations and penalties, military and civilian license plates, speed limits, insurance, and much more.
There are 46 pages with illustrations of practical traffic and driving situations, including one explaining what to do when you encounter a column of marching SA stormtroopers and one showing two men walking to their car after leaving a restaurant. A skeleton is sitting on top of the car and the caption translates as, “Alcohol is the biggest enemy of motorists”.
This is a beautiful example of the well-illustrated, 19th expanded edition of König Kraftfahrlehre from 1940, a technical manual for car owners and drivers supplemented with the most popular questions and answers for people taking driving tests. It was assembled by civil engineer (and driving instructor) Adolf König and has 242 illustrations, 11 color tables, 45 color illustrations of traffic signs, and four color fold-out engine diagrams in its 525+ pages.
The 4-½ x 6-¾ inch, 1 inch thick 525+ page book also has advertising for specialist literature for mechanics, and manufacturers of car parts and accessories such as batteries, spark plugs, car lights, windshields, bolts and nuts.
This 19th expanded edition of König Kraftfahrlehre was published by Richard Carl Schmidt & Co. in Berlin in 1940. This hard-to-find in-depth, heavily illustrated and very interesting Nazi technical manual for car owners and drivers is in very nice, little used condition with a tight spine and no odor.

This fine 1940 technical manual for motorists in Nazi Germany is
