This is a superb example of a big 6-1/2 inch wingspan Nazi police shako eagle with two threaded brass studs for holding it to a police shako. It is bent exactly as it left the factory over 65 years ago to fit a diameter of about a 3-3/4 inches. It is an absolute triumph of German die making art, far superior in relief and detail to any German buckle or even the pieces of the handle of a German dagger or sword. Thousands of little lines delineate the feathers on the eagle and tiny pebbles fill the form of the oak leaves in the wreaths. Even the backside die was beautifully detailed.
The aluminum on the back that is riveted over the heads of the brass studs to hold them in place, is marked with the letters CTD (Christian Theodor Dicke of Lüdenscheid).
This Nazi shako plate and the Nazi police belt buckle we are offering came from the widow of the veteran who brought them home from World War II in Europe and we think they came from unused inventory and were never issued. They have never been in the hands of a dealer until now.
