This is a rare original example of the Hamburger Tageblatt, the Nazi Party and DAF daily newspaper of Gau Hamburg. It is the edition of 21 April 1939, the day after Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday.

The photos on the front page above the fold show festivities that had taken place on 20 April, including a picture of Hitler greeting female well-wishers. Articles claim foreign admiration for Germany’s armed forces on display during the birthday celebrations, birthday wishes from abroad, as well as the enormous percentage of the German population that had celebrated the big event.

There is also a lot of coverage (and photos) of the end of the French ocean liner Paris which caught fire and sank in the harbor at Le Havre on 18 April 1939, and a front page article questioning the mental state of sitting American President Roosevelt! There is lottery, theater and sport news, obituaries, church services, and advertising for uniforms, shoes, beds, carpets, etc.

This historical 80+ year old 8-page, 16-½ x 22-¼ inch Nazi Party newspaper is somewhat fragile of course, but has survived the years quite well as it was saved by a true believer and was stored carefully. No odor.
