This is a very rare original example of the evening edition of the Hamburger Fremdenblatt newspaper for Thursday 20 April 1939, Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday - "The Day of the Führer".
The 16 x 22-¼ inch front page is completely devoted to the festivities surrounding the special birthday of Der Führer - the Rudolf Hess speech, parades, reviews, receptions, as well as well wishes from foreign leaders.

Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler used the occasion of 50th Hitler’s birthday to bestow the Honor Sword to SS leaders from the SS District Northwest. The lucky recipients, SS-Standartenführer, SS-Obersturmbannführer, SS-Sturmbannführer, SS-Hauptsturmführer and one SS-Obersturmführer, are all named in this 83 year old newspaper (shown right). It also contains a picture of a silver viking ship (shown below), the gift of the Hamburg SA to the Führer, designed by Hamburg goldsmith J. Arnold.
This newspaper also has theater news, radio program schedules, a few obituaries, and even an article about the obsession of the British with their expensive and fashionable dogs. The title of this article is “Lapdog or Baby?", shown below.
This Hamburger Fremdenblatt also contains advertising for furniture, shoes, fashion, bicycles and motorcycles, the lottery, cameras, jewelry and land and houses for sale.
This extremely historical 80+ year old 8-page Nazi newspaper is somewhat fragile of course, but has survived the years quite well as it was saved by a true believer and was stored carefully. No odor.
