Most Third Reich document collectors are familiar with the Inländer-Jahresjagdschein or German Domestic Hunting License. This document looks similar but is a Third Reich fishing license or Jahresfischereischein. It was issued to Paul Petrig, a salesman born on 13 July 1905. When this Nazi fishing license was issued he was a resident of Neubrücke in Kreis Birkenfeld, near Idar-Oberstein.

The 4-1/8 x 5-¾ inch, two-sided Jahresfischereischein was number 58 issued to 37 year old Petrig on 27 January 1943 and was valid all of 1943. The cost was 3 Reichsmarks.  Note that at the top it says that these fishing licenses were for German citizens only!

The back side of this green-blue  Jahresfischereischein has rules and regulations about where to fish as well as instructions that the ID had to be carried while fishing. That is why fishing licenses (and Nazi hunting licenses) are usually stained, wrinkled or folded!

This 100% original 75 year old Jahresfischereischein is in used condition, complete with ID photo of the original owner.
