This is an original 5-¼ x 8-¼ inch, 58-page hardcover example of the Deutsches Einheits Familienstammbuch or German Family Unit Family Register, given to couples at the time of their marriage. Each Familienstammbuch was considered the “Family Identity Document” and started with a Heiratsurkunde (marriage certificate), followed by other certifications which established the relationship and connection of the married couple with other family members. There were pages to enter citizenship and race of the married couple, birth certificates for their children (room for nine!) and blank Sterbeurkunden (death certificates). There was also space for entering religious milestones like baptism and confirmations.
In the center was a fold-out Ahnentafel or racial pedigree certificate (four generations) and all the entries had to be officially certified and stamped by the Standesamt or Registrar's Office. At the end of each Stammbuch was a dictionary of Nazi legal and genealogical terms and a list of good Germanic names for potential children.
This Deutsches Einheits Familienstammbuch was issued to Dr. Helmut Eickhoff and Helga Eickhoff (née Mayerhofer) on the day of their marriage, 27 May 1942, in Penzing, a small town on the outskirts of Landsberg am Lech. Dr. Helmut Eickhoff was a Chemist and Doctor of Philosophy, born on 2 January 1913 and Helga Eickhoff, a pharmacist, was born on 1 February 1917 in Brünn. Page 5 has entries about the parents of both groom and bride.
Daughter Angelika Dietlinde Beate Eickhoff was born on 30 August 1943. The entry shows she was born in Vienna and the entry was certified on 4 September 1943 by the Standesbeamte of Wien-Hietzing.
Printed by the Reichsverband der Standesbeamten Deutschlands in Berlin, this 78 year old Deutsches Einheits Familienstammbuch with brown linen hardcover with gold blocking is in very nice, tight condition. The fold-out Ahnentafel is not filled out. No odor.
This fine 1942 Nazi Family ID of Mr. & Mrs. Eickhoff is ** SOLD **
