This is a superb original convex vitreous enamel on copper Third Reich automobile badge of the sort attached to the grill or radiator core (sometimes to the body work) or automobiles in Germany during the Nazi era. It is the seldom seen 3-1/2 inch blue, green, white and blank disk with a mountain in the middle, the Olympic Rings and the words IV. OLYMPISCHE WINTERSPIELE GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN 1936 (4th Olympic Winter Games Garmisch-Partenkirchen) around the edge.
This beautiful piece was manufactured by the C. Poellath company of Schrobenhausen. It is 100% absolutely original to the Third Reich period AND NOT a copy or reproduction of any kind.
The photo left shows precisely how some people mounted these car rally / tour badges to their cars. Others had a badge bar running between the headlights to which they attached the badges and some people hooked them directly to the radiator with wires that ran through the radiator core.
A very rare piece of Third Reich automotive and Olympic history in fine condition, exactly as shown in our photographs.
