Der Grosse Befehl (The Great Command) published for the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (High Command of the German Armed Forces or OKW) in 1941 by Zeitgeschichte-Verlag in Berlin is a Heinrich Hoffmann style 7-1/2 x 10-1/2 inch, 96-page photo book with over 100 full- and half-page photos of the short but fierce battle and victory of the Wehrmacht in the Holland, Belgium and France in 1940.

The photographs were taken by PK-men and show Luftwaffe airplanes over Holland, Fallschirmjäger jumping over Belgium, Nazi tanks crossing the Belgian border, the famous Nazi paratroopers at Eben Emael, Wehrmacht soldiers on bicycles in Ypern, severe battle damage, casualties and POWs, the Nazi swastika flag over a World War I battlefield in Belgium, the British disaster at Dunkirk, wounded "Poilu" and defeated members of the French army at Verdun, conquering the Maginot Line, and the victory parade in Paris. There are photographs of the surrender at Compiègne as well and swastika flags on the cathedral of Strasbourg, an important city once again part of Germany!

The book contains copies of several Adolf Hitler quotes and battle orders, and all photos have a short caption.

This is a First Edition of Der Grosse Befehl.  It is in very good condition, and the original dust jacket has been laminated to preserve it.
