This is an original example of the rare 5-1/2 x 7-3/8 inch, 48 or so page (unnumbered) very heavily illustrated full-color hardcover book Vormarsch (Review) by Heinz Schröter with a foreword by Helmut Jahn.

This World War II German book was published in 1941 by the Propaganda Kompanie of one of the German armies in the West, in cooperation with Propyläen Verlag in Berlin. The actual printing of Vormarsch was done by E. Desfossés-Néogravure in occupied Paris, France for the Germans.

The pictures in the book are typical of those shot by combat photographers in any army and show German troops on the move, commanders in the field, wrecked enemy equipment, dead French soldiers, POWs and the general destruction of battle. German soldiers are shown on motorcycles, with flame throwers, advancing in tanks, unloading huge shells, storming across open water, on columns of horses, receiving medals, etc.
A wonderful Third Reich book of unusual color photographs from the early part of World War II, in very nice condition, no odor.

A small sticker of the bookshop in Königsberg where this book was sold is still inside the front cover. The front flyleaf has a Christmas 1941 dedication which shows that the book was given by Königsberg residents Ernst & Erika to somebody who visited the historic city on the Baltic Sea in East Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia).
