The Presidents of each chamber formed a National Advisory Committee which was supplemented by a Reich Culture Senate composed of "persons of outstanding cultural attainments". Along with Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the Reichsminister für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda (State Minister for National Community Clarification and Publicity), these people oversaw every aspect of everything that got into print or was performed in Nazi Germany.
This is the original 2-page Third Reich Mitglieds Ausweis or membership identity document for a German Solo Tänzerin or solo dancer called Lucy Stoff (née Meyer) who used the stage name Edel West. She was a member of the Fachschaft Bühne (Professional Group Stage) of the Reichstheaterkammer (State Theater Chamber) of the RKK. Lucy Stoff was member number 83 114 since 1 February 1943.
The Reichskulturkammer (RKK or State Chamber of Culture) was a very complex and important department of the German government. Without exception, anyone and everyone involved in "all forms of artistic creation or activity which are made public, appear in print or are transmitted through the air" were required to be members and carry an identification card from one of the chambers of the Reichskulturkammer. Those chambers included the Chamber of Visual Arts, the Motion Picture Chamber, the Literature Chamber, Press Chamber, Theater Chamber, Music Chamber and Radio Chamber.
The 4-3/4 x 5-3/4 inch brown leatherette cover contains 20 pages and lists several work assignments in the year 1943, including a stint at Der Marinestation der Ostsee in March, April and May of that year. This was a shore command for Kriegsmarine units operating primarily in the Baltic Sea, and was headquartered in Kiel.
The ID photo of smiling Edel West on page 3 has its original rivets and is correctly over-stamped with the red Nazi eagle and swastika stamp of the Reichskulturkammer Reichstheaterkammer.
Pasted to the top of page 1 is an interesting note showing Lucy Stoff survived World War II and registered with the Military Commandant of the City of Berlin, Department Art Affairs on 24 May 1945.
This 100% original 80+ year old RKK membership identity document is in nice used condition with one punch hole through the top edge. No odor.
This orginal 1943 RKK membership ID of a dancer is * SOLD **
