Raumbild Verlag (Three Dimensional Picture Publishers) books are unique in that they contain photographic stereo-view cards and a fold-up metal optical device with which the cards can be viewed. If you are not familiar with this Nazi three-dimensional book, you need to know that it consists of a well-written text by former boxer Ludwig Haymann on the subject of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There are 3D photos interspersed on black pages throughout the text, and the text is written in its entirety in the German language.

The special covers of this album are about 1/2-inch thick and are die-cut with cavities that hold the special 3-dimensional stereo photographs (REAL photographs from negatives - NOT halftone prints) and the metal viewer with glass lenses that is set up to view the photographs. The stereo photos each measure 2-3/8 x 5 inches and have a full description of the subject printed on the back in German. When seen in the viewer each picture is incredibly three-dimensional, almost as if the scene was being viewed in real life.
Page 56 and 57 have tables with the gold, silver and bronze medal winners of every sport of the Summer Olympics. Pages 58 and 59 contain the photo index.

This 100% original Third Reich 3D book Die Olympischen Spiele 1936 is complete with all 100 3D photo cards and in good used condition with the original metal viewer. The bottom edges of the hard covers of this 87 year old German stereoscopic photo book show wear and the lettering on the spine is worn off. It has no odor.

Inside the front cover is a small red sticker from a bookstore in Leipzig where this 1936 Raumbildalbum was sold originally. The book plate of a previous owner is also attached inside the front cover. Both are visible in the second picture on this USMBOOKS web page.

Picture number 67 (a water polo match in the Olympic Swim Stadium) has a little (what appears to be) paste residue on the left side but the picture can be viewed exactly as it was meant to be viewed. The residue could probably be removed with a damp cloth, but we leave that up to the next owner.
