Photo and picture sets were very popular souvenirs for soldiers and other travelers in the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. Most were mass produced for tourists visiting large cities such as Berlin, Munich and Nuremberg. We have never before seen one for a Nazi Party Ordensburg, since they were generally off-limits to the public!
This is a complete set of 10 original Nazi era photos of NS-Ordensburg Vogelsang in their original tan Third Reich protective folder. Each deckle edge photograph measures 2-3/4 x 3-1/2 inches and has a caption on the back. These are real photographs printed from negative, and not pictures reproduced mechanically to look like photographs.
Ordensburg Vogelsang, near Schleiden in the Eifel, was one of three elite Nazi educational institutions (the others were Ordensburg Sonthofen and Ordensburg Crössinsee) where the very best people in the NSDAP, SS, SA, NSKK and HJ, were educated to become future leaders in Nazi Germany. Construction started in 1934 and Ordensburg Vogelsang opened in 1935. The facility was handed over the the German Wehrmacht at the outbreak of World War II in September 1939.
Photographs in this rare souvenir set include the Ehrenmal, the Adlerhof, the dining hall, swimming pool, reading room and several outside views of the buildings designed by Cologne architect Clemens Klotz. The photos in this Third Reich souvenir photo set were taken by Photo Schmeck in Aachen.
