This is a wonderful example of the spectacular 7-3/4 x 10-1/2 inch, 110 page, very heavily illustrated hardcover book Uniformen und Soldaten (Uniforms and Soldiers) by Dr. Curt Ehrlich as published by Verlag Erich Klinghammer in Berlin in 1942. It still has its original dust jacket and is in very good condition.

Uniformen und Soldaten is illustrated with 32 full-page, full-color photographs and countless smaller illustrations by Theo Matejko depicting the Ehrenkleid unsere Wehrmacht or the Honor Uniforms of our Armed Forces. Written and published at the high point of German World War II uniform design, the extremely comprehensive text explains how the “current” uniforms of the German Forces were a practical yet striking outgrowth of a long tradition of effective, well-designed uniforms.

Those uniforms were expected to be of the highest quality and made to fit in such a way that the wearer would inspire his comrades and present a dashing, courageous figure to an enemy soldier.

The color photographs in the book were made in the uniform factory of Peek & Cloppenburg, still a very major player in the European high-fashion clothing business.

The 32 big, clear color plates perfectly show the cutting and manufacture of WW2 German military uniforms from bolts of raw material through pressing and finishing as no other book does. The dozens of smaller illustrations show the utility of German Luftwaffe, Panzer and other uniforms in the air and in the field in combat situations.

The original dust jacket has been laminated to preserve it. The book itself is in very good original condition.
