Verkehrs- und Baumuseum Berlin, Amtlicher Führer durch die Sammlungen is the “Official Guide through the Collections” of the Traffic- and Construction Museum in Berlin located on Invalidenstrasse 50/51 near the Lehrter city railway station. This is the rare illustrated 4-7/8 x 6-3/4 inch, 162-page edition from the year 1942, complete with the often missing 12 inch fold-out map of the museum.

The Verkehrs- und Baumuseum Berlin was located in the old railways station pictured on the front cover of this 79 year old Nazi museum guidebook. It was divided into sections on railroad, waterways, architecture, the Reichsautobahn, and construction.

This guidebook has information about every item on display and photos of old and new locomotives and trains, railroad tunnels, model train displays, architectural models, etc. It also contains advertising by companies such as Siemens, AEG, and Henschel, as well as manufacturers of railroad signals and lights, train brakes and engines, metal train depots and railroad bridges, etc.

This Nazi guidebook was produced two years before the museum was very heavily damaged during air raids. Towards the end of the war the museum was plundered by German citizens and Soviet troops and large parts of the enormous 1:33 scale model railway disappeared.

This rare surviving 1942 example of Verkehrs- und Baumuseum Berlin Amtlicher Führer durch die Sammlungen is in nice used condition. It is complete with the frequently missing fold-out map, and has no writing or unpleasant odor. This museum guide is a treasure for anyone or any institution interested in train or transport of any kind in Germany during the Third Reich.
