This is a very nice complete, original example of the big 8 x 10-1/2 inch, 32 page program sold on the streets of München during the Days of German Art in Munich from 14 - 16 July 1939. It is the official publication of the Leadership of the Day of German Art 1939.

This expanded version of the brochures used in previous years contains a lot of color photographs that earlier editions did not have. It was a much more costly and complex publication than the smaller and less elaborate black & white booklet that was sold on the streets. The text explains the reason for the Day of German Art and describes Munich, Germany's Door to Art and the World of Mountains.
There are many pictures of beautifully gowned ladies, musical floats, the philharmonic concert, a million lights and many flags illuminating he City Hall of Munich, ancient Germanic costumes, etc. There are also photos of street dances, musicians, etc., all photos unique to the 1939 brochure.
Within a few weeks after the celebration, Germany was at war with Poland, France and England, and the celebration of the Day of German Art was never the same again.
The rarest of the annual art festival brochures, and in very good used condition.
