RARE 1944 ISSUE KRIEGSMARINE MAGAZINE

nazi eagle and swastika
Uniformen der deutschen Kriegsmarine
,,DIE KRIEGSMARINE’’
(THE NAVY)
MAGAZINE FOR
THE SECOND
HALF OF
JANUARY 1944
Marinehelferin
By the middle of January 1944 when this magazine was published, the Kriegsmarine or Navy of Nazi Germany had already been reduced to a fraction of its former size and power. That may be why this rare 9-1/2 x 13 inch, 16 page, heavily illustrated issue of ,,Die Kriegsmarine’’ has a likeness of a Marinehelferin or Female Navy Replacement on the front cover and an article on page 9 about women replacing men in non-combat naval tasks.

Other articles and photo features concern the battleship ,,Scharnhorst’’, destroyers and U-Boats in the Bay of Biscaye, the Russian Baltic Navy, sailing ships, and an article from a British publication about the deadly menace of the U-Boot. Published by the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine in Berlin.
Nazi Navy
Also included with this magazine is the 9-1/2 x 13-1/2 inch, full-color wall chart of the uniform insignia of the Kriegsmarine which was originally a supplement to the Nazi military magazine ,,Die Wehrmacht’’.
