Streicher employed editorial cartoonist and caricaturist Philipp Rupprecht who drew under the name "Fips", and whose caricatures are instantly recognizable even today.
Stürmer Verlag in Nürnberg was far and away the most anti-Jewish publishing company in Germany during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler. It was owned and operated by Julius Streicher whose newspaper Der Stürmer featured huge amounts of extremely anti-Jewish content in every issue. He built a business on the newspaper slogan "The Jews are our Misfortune".
The book we offer here is a very nice used example of the 6-1/4 x 6-5/8 inch, 60 page soft cover called Juden stellen sich vor (Jews Introduce Themselves) as published by Stürmer Verlag in Nürnberg. The book contains a 2-page introduction by Streicher and then consists of full-page Fips illustrations of grotesque Jewish stereotypes that had been published in Der Stürmer.
These stereotypes include The Beggar, the Door-to-Door Salesman, the Second Hand Dealer, the Rabbi, the Jewish Animal Handler, the Flatterer, the Jewish Butcher, the Crook, the Lawyer, the Politician, the Journalist, the Reporter, the Doctor, the Manager, the Star, the Artist, the Diplomat, the Traveler, the Boss, the Dandy, the Banker, the Respectable Jew, etc.
This book is in excellent condition with the very minor exception that the top edge was trimmed imperfectly at the bindery when it was printed. That imperfection does not in any way come close to any of the pictures or the text in the book. You can pay a great deal more for Juden stellen sich vor on many websites but we don't think you can find a better one anywhere near our price.
