This is a very fine, very heavy original all-metal German picture frame manufactured in the shape of an Iron Cross with a crown in the top lobe and surrounded with a wreath of laurel and oak leaves.
The deep relief nickel plated iron frame is about 7-1/2 inches wide x 9-1/2 inches tall, weighs about 1-1/2 pounds and has a cavity in the back for a typical 4-1/4 x 6-1/2 inch cabinet card photograph.
The back is fitted with a spring-loaded picture holder / easel and in the bottom lobe of the Iron Cross is the abbreviation Ges. Gesch. (roughly “patent pending” in German).
This is a fine old frame in great condition, perfect for any historic German military photograph (the oval measures 3-5/8 x 5-1/2 inches). We have not cleaned it or polished it and it still looks wonderful.
We DO NOT guarantee the cabinet card photo in the Third Reich frame to be an original but it does come with the frame. Very good condition.
