There is information about Hitler's 1932 election days in Hamburg, and photos Hitler visiting the city while electioneering (even his signature in the guestbook of the Hamburg Hotel Phoenix where his occupation is listed as "author"!). There are photos of Hitler with Gauleiter Hinrich Lohse, with children, during speeches, but the large majority of the photos show der Führer after his election as Reichskanzler in 1933.

Adolf Hitler und Hamburg is not a very well-known book amongst Third Reich book aficionados. However, it should be! The photo content is superb, and 99% of the photographs are not found in other Nazi era publications.

Adolf Hitler und Hamburg, is an original Nazi photo book published in Hamburg to commemorate Adolf Hitler's 50th birthday in 1939 by Verlag Broschek.

The softcover photo book starts with a chapter about Adolf Hitler and his connection with the historic Hansestadt Hamburg, before and after he was elected to power in 1933. Munich was the "Capital of the Nazi Movement", Nürnberg the "City of Nazi Party Days", and Hitler assigned the name "Hamburg, Germany's Door to the World" to the historic Hanseatic city on the Elbe river.

There is even a photo of Adolf Hitler giving a speech on the balcony of Hamburg City Hall with Dr. Robert Ley, Gauleiter Karl Kaufmann, NSKK-Obergruppenführer Jürgensen and Hitler's personal photographer Professor Heinrich Hoffmann fiddling with his camera (partially shown directly above)!

With Propaganda Minister Dr. Joseph Goebbels visiting the Blohm & Voss shipyards in Hamburg, in his huge open Mercedes-Benz, with Reichsstatthalter Gauleiter Karl Kaufmann and SS-Obergruppenführer Lorenz, traveling through enormous crowds of adoring fans, during the christening of the Kriegsmarine school ship "Horst Wessel" in June 1936 and the KdF Ship "Wilhelm Gustloff" in May 1937, Hitler's ship the Aviso "Grille" in Hamburg, at Hamburg City Hall with Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in 1938, with Kriegsmarine Admiral Raeder and Admiral von Horthy, Generalfeldmarschall Göring, aboard the KdF Ship "Robert Ley", with young men of the Marine-HJ, etc.

Lots of high-ranking Nazis, wonderful close-ups of Nazi uniforms and Adolf Hitler is shown in formal and informal situations.

This 7-¾ x 9 inch, 120 page softcover photo book from 1939 is complete and in nice used condition. The spine has been scotch taped.
