This is a very nice First American Edition of THE ORDER OF THE SS DEATH’S HEAD - the Story of Hitler’s SS by German journalist Heinz Höhne published in 1970 by Coward-McCann of New York, with its original dust jacket. The German text was translated by Richard Barry.

The 6-½ x 9-½ inch, 690-page nearly THREE pound hardcover book was the first fully documented story of the SS and its inner workings during the Third Reich and includes a 20 inch long fold-out showing the structure of the SS in 1944.

Interspersed in the text are rare black & white period pictures that include Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, SS General Reinhard Heydrich and Chief of German Military Intelligence Wilhelm Canaris (shown right), SA Chief Ernst Röhm, Jewish persecution victims, volunteers of the Waffen-SS ‘Flanders Legion’, the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and LSSAH Commander Josef "Sepp" Dietrich, SS guards at the Nazi Honor Temples in Munich, etc.

This 54 year old monumental hardcover example of THE ORDER OF THE SS DEATH’S HEAD - the Story of Hitler’s SS is in very good, little used condition with a tight spine. It still has its original dust jacket which has tape repairs. No odor.
