This is an absolutely original 3-3/8 x 5-1/8 inch two-sided piece of leinen (similar to oilcloth) Nazi military ID called a Truppenausweis der SS-Verfügungstruppe for SS-St. Anwärter Benno Kalweit. This is NOT the same document as the similar 4-page SS Truppenausweis, but nonetheless absolutely genuine to the Third Reich!

Kalweit was born on 4 April 1919 in München and entered the SS on 1 April 1938.

This rare provisional SS identity document was issued to SS Candidate Benno Kalweit on 10 April 1938 at München, Germany by an SS-Untersturmführer of the SS-Standarte Deutschland. It states Kalweit was very tall, dark blond and had no distinctive features such as scars, birthmarks, etc.

The back of this ID has space for three certifications in the event the owner was promoted before assignment to an SS unit. The spaces are blank, suggesting Kalweit was accepted in the SS and given a permanent ID and turned this one in.
