This is a nice example of the 8 x 10-1/2 inch, 160 page, very, very heavily illustrated hard cover book Balkenkreuz über Wüstensand (The Balkan Cross over Desert Sand) subtitled “A Color Picture Book of the German Africa Corps” as published by Gerhard Stalling Verlag in Oldenburg, Germany in 1943
One of the best German color photo documents of World War II, the photographic material covers all aspects of the German war effort in Africa from aircraft to tanks, ships, weapons, personnel, prisoners and captured enemy equipment. Nice color shots of Rommel, Hauptmann Hans-Joachim Marseille, General der Flieger Geißler, Generalmajor Fröhlich, etc.
This example of Balkenkreuz über Wüstensand is in very good used condition. Some wear to the cover and the front flyleaf has a rubber stamp with eagle and swastika from the administration of the HJ Bann 307.
