The letter stamped Geheim (Secret) (underlined in green) is dated 16 April 1941 and is an official police copy that originated at the Reichsautobahnen Oberste Bauleitung, or the Highest Construction Management Office of the Nazi Freeway Company in Linz. It was sent to Baugesellschaft Hella & Co., a Nazi construction contractor located in Vienna.

It is confirmation that the company had orders to organize troops for urgent and essential military construction projects outside the German Reich. The letter is a request to all offices and people to help out with equipping this B-Trupp (the designation for leading skilled workers in the OT), especially by issuing visas and permits.

The letter was signed by by Dr. Ing. Hammitz next to the Nazi eagle and swastika stamp of the Reichsautobahnen Oberste Bauleitung Wien. On the back are pencil markings of Ref. Ia Pol. Dr. Slavik of the Vienna police (shown below).

This is an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the logistics of World War II in Europe. It is a lot of two 100% original high Nazi government level letters dated 16 April 1941 and 8 May 1941 relating to Organisation Todt, the Reichsautobahn and the Wehrmacht invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941.

The second piece is a letter from Baugesellschaft Hella & Co. of Vienna to the Headquarters of Police in Vienna dated 8 May 1941. It is a request for travel permission for Hella & Co. engineer Franz Schönbrunner, who had to lead 30 men of the so-called B-Trupp der Organisation Todt (B-Troop of the OT) in a military convoy to Sid an der Save bei Essig (an important and dangerous war combat zone in Yugoslavia) to repair a blown up bridge over the Sava river, the largest tributary of the Danube river which flows for about 900 km thru Yugoslavia and Southeastern Europe.

The letter states in part that “leading building inspector Schönbrunner will have to travel to this construction project at least once a month” and that this letter is “a request to issue the necessary travel permits to facilitate this travel quickly so that the construction will not be delayed.”

Note the Heil Hitler! sign off and the receiving stamp below it (picture right). It shows that the request for travel permits was received on 8 May 1941 at Dr. Slavik’s office at Nazi Polizeipräsidium (Ia Pol.) in Wien, the second largest city in Adolf Hitler’s Greater Germany.

Shown below is a picture of the travel case of important and fascinating documents and correspondence from the very highest levels of the Nazi police, the Gestapo and other government agencies in Wien. This lot came from that satchel and originated at the Nazi police headquarters in Vienna.

The letter dated 8 May 1941 is the original correspondence from Baugesellschaft Hella & Co. to the Polizeipräsidium on Bräunerstrasse 5 in Vienna.
