This is an excellent used example of the decades old official Soviet history of their fight against the Nazis during World War II. The big 9 x 12 inch, 400-page hard cover book is complete with its original dust jacket, weighs 4-1/4 pounds and contains hundreds of mostly full- and half-page photos of the Red Army, Navy and Air Force defending Moscow and the motherland, as well as their advance to Berlin in 1945.
Each of the five sections of the book contains full-color maps and reproductions of famous combat paintings and posters (some double-page spreads) and full-color reproductions of Soviet medals. There are many black & white photos of Russian snipers (some women snipers - photo below) and Russian combat troops complete with uniforms, weapons and equipment on every field of battle. Ninety-nine percent of the pictures in this book are not found in books about World War 2 published outside the Soviet Union in the Communist era.
The text for this book is confined largely to the first 20 or so pages and the rest of the book consists of graphic material and photo captions. Unfortunately for English and German readers, there is no English or German in the book. All text is in cyrillic letters in the Russian language.
