This is a nice used original example of the 12-1/2 x 19 inch, 4 page official Nazi daily paper in Gau Bayreuth, the HOFER NS-ZEITUNG dated Friday 11 August 1944. Most of the news was not particularly pleasant for the readers of the Hofer NS-Zeitung that day, but the headline story in the center of page 1 was the award by Hitler personally of the Oak Leaves with Diamonds for the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross of SS-Oberst-Gruppenfüher und Generaloberst der Waffen-SS Sepp Dietrich, in the wake of the hard fighting of his 1.SS-Panzerkorps Leibstandarte in northern France.
In other news several people were awarded the Knights Cross or the Kriegsverdienstkreuz (War Merit Cross), the depreciating situations in Italy, Normandy, and in the East. The things being offered for sale in the want ads are quite interesting for a country on the verge of collapse.
A rare approximately 66 year old newspaper in nice used condition.
