The text that accompanies the photo to the left mentions that German troops that reached the palace quarter of Leningrad were “able to rescue some priceless art” and that all the damage was inflicted by canons of the Red Army.
Rare war correspondent photos show German soldiers during battle in winter and summer, in swamps and forests, Generalfeldmarschall von Küchler, churches at Nowgorod, battle damage, damaged Soviet factories and the palace of the tsar at Leningrad, three German soldiers, each with a Wolchow-Stock or Wolchow walking stick, camouflaged German machine gun stands, a German sniper with a 98k rifle with scope, Wehrmacht trenches during the siege of Leningrad, General Lindemann (studying maps, with his men in the trenches, on his special train, with other Nazi officers), a medal ceremony in the field, wounded soldiers, supplies being brought in on temporary roads made from tree branches (Knüppeldamm) on mud, etc. The last photo in the book is a supply room with stacks of just finished wool-felt boot liners (shown below).

Nordpfeiler der Ostfront (Northern Support on the East Front) is a rare undated, heavily illustrated World War II Nazi photo book published by the Publicity Department of German Armee Lindemann. The book has a foreword by Knight’s Cross recipient Generaloberst Georg Lindemann who was the commander of L Corps. During Operation Barbarossa, Armee Lindemann was part of Wehrmacht Army Group North, and Lindemann commanded the corps during the long, drawn-out fighting around Leningrad.
Nordpfeiler der Ostfront was printed from a manuscript by Kriegsberichter (War Correspondent) Günther Heysing and has chapters about Wehrmacht experiences at Leningrad, the Battle of Grusino, the Wolchow bridgehead, the amphibious operation and naval engagements on Lake Ladoga, and many aspects of life in the trenches during the siege of Leningrad.

Nordpfeiler der Ostfront is a rare 6-7/8 x 9-7/8 inch, 126-page softcover Nazi book that was printed in the field during World War II. It is undated but we suspect it dates to 1943 or 1944. The names of the Kriegsberichter who took the pictures are on the last page with information about the Obergefreiter responsible for the text and printing.
This hard-to-find 75+ year old Nazi book is in good used condition, no odor.
