This is a beautifully color illustrated 1938 travel brochure of the health resort Tegernsee in Bavarian Alps, long a very special place for those who could afford a special holiday. It is located on the eastern shore of the lake by the same name, just across the water from Bad Wiessee, where the Röhm purge or "Night of the Long Knives" occurred four years earlier in June 1934.
Illustrations show a view down Adolf Hitler Strasse (main street - shown directly above) with the massive Setzberg Mountain in the background, motorboats with swastika flags for trips on Teger Lake, the new beach facilities opened in 1937, men in Lederhosen and women in typical regional Dirndl dress, the local beer hall, idyllic houses and stunningly beautiful nature.
The cover illustration is by well-known German illustrator Ludwig Hohlwein, famous for his striking 1936 Winter Olympics artwork. The text is by A. Walther of Tegernsee and the convenient sized 3-7/8 x 8-1/4inch (folds out to eight 7-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch full-color pages) and was printed in Munich.
