This is original Third Reich travel ephemera produced for visitors to Munich during the Olympia-Sommer 1936, the summer of the Olympic Year 1936. The text of the brochure is in German and English.
The foreword (shown above) is by Munich Mayor and Reichsleiter Karl Fiehler referring to the Capital of the Nazi Movement as “World Travel Destination Munich”, a city of art treasures, culture and history. Fiehler also mentions the impressive new architectural additions as a result of the “Will of the Führer” making Munich the face of the Nazi Movement.
The calendar lists a few of the 400 special events planned in Munich during the Olympic Summer for the “influx of visitors”, including equestrian events at Riem and Daglfing commemorating the 500th anniversary of horse racing in Munich. The SS-Reiterfeste gets a special mention, as do four Richard-Wagner concerts at Neuschwanstein Castle (image left).
There is advertising by museums, many big and small beer halls in Munich, hotels, restaurants, car rental companies, Rodenstock binoculars, Loden Frey and other clothing and accessory stores.
Inside the back cover an original Third Reich coupon remains that was never used to pick up a series of art postcards at the Schwarzwälder Naturweinhaus restaurant located between the Frauenkirche and Ritter von Epp Square.
This well-preserved original 85+ year old Munich city tour brochure is complete and in very nice, little used condition. Original staples, no odor.
The buyer will receive an in-depth printed statement covering the very interesting provenance of this 3. Reich Reiseprospekt or tourist brochure!
The 4-1/8 x 8-1/4 inch, 20-page brochure has a view of downtown buildings from the corner of one of the Nazi Honor Temples built for the coffins of the martyrs of the 1923 Nazi Putsch.
