Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page are two original sets of souvenir photos of German occupied Paris brought back home to Germany by a Wehrmacht soldier.

This is SET 1 and SET 2, each containing 20 genuine photographs (not half-toned photos mechanically reproduced - real photos on glossy paper) still contained in their original 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 inch embossed and printed red card stock portfolio.

The photographs are all numbered and referenced to a list identifying them on the back of the portfolio. Some photographs have the subject handwritten (in German) on the back as well.

The pictures show all the big sights of the City of Lights including Arc de Triomphe, Avenue Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, the Opera, Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, Place de Concorde, Rue Royale, Place de la Bastille, Napoleon's tomb, Place Vendome, Pantheon, Hotel de Ville, la Madeleine, and many other famous places.

Everybody who has seen the movie "Casablanca" knows, the government of France surrendered within a couple of weeks of the German invasion in the spring of 1940. Then as now, the people of France were wonderful hosts to their German conquerors, allowing them the run of the capital, selling them overpriced sandwiches and so-so beer, with an attitude.
