Examples of them are now becoming very, very hard to find. These stamps were color coded and included rations for coal, meat, coffee, dairy, sugar, flour and eggs. They were issued in 10, 25, 50, 100,and 500 gram denominations, kilograms for coal. Theft or black market trading of Reichskarten was considered a criminal offense.
The rare original Nazi ration coupon for sale on this USMBOOKS web page was printed with the red J on it (not overstamped) and issued to Ludmilla Sara Gerstl, a Jewish woman living on Löblichgasse 16 in the 9th District of Wien (Vienna, the second largest city in Nazi Germany). Ludmilla Sara Gerstl was born in Graz on 25 June 1905 and was deported from Wien to Riga on 6 February 1942. The address on this 1940 Nazi ration card was where the 36 year old woman lived when she was deported.
German Reichskarten or Nazi ration coupons were issued to all registered civilians - INCLUDING JEWS - during World War II in Germany, as well as to Wehrmacht soldiers on home leave.
This 100% original Nährmittelkarte is clearly marked with red Js and was valid from 21 October - 17 November 1940. Ludmilla Sara Gerstl used some of the coupons to purchase food at the food store and deli of Anton Nowak on Sechsschimmelgasse 22, also in the the 9th District of Vienna.
Absolutely original and in nice condition, exactly as shown. VERY RARE! NOT a modern fake of any kind, but an authentic piece of Third Reich history.
This rare original J marked 1940 Nazi rationing coupon used by Ludmilla
