Walter Arlt & Co. Radio-Handel of Berlin-Charlottenburg was a radio business with the largest assortment of radios and related merchandise in Nazi Germany, according to information inside the striking front cover of this heavily illustrated 5-¾ x 8-¼ inch, 200+ page catalog. Below that claim is the statement that the company is a Rein arisches Unternehmen or 100% Aryan business.
|
Walter Arlt & Co. Radio-Handel had branches of their
Berlin business in ten other cities - Bremen, Hamburg,
Stettin, Königsberg, Breslau, Dresden, Leipzig,
Frankfurt, München, Graz and Wien!

This original 1938-1938 Walter Arlt & Co. Radio-Handel catalog is fully indexed and even comes with a Third Reich order form. It was never used and has a radio schematic pencil drawing on one side.
There is quite a bit of detailed “how-to” information so people could fix or boost their equipment accompanied by schematics and diagrams.
This rare heavily illustrated Nazi electronics catalog with a Nazi postman in uniform on the cover starts with the three newest Volksempfänger or People’s Radios (page shown above). The three different models of the inexpensive bakelite Nazi radios and their accessories are shown and described. The fanciest Volksempfänger (VE 301) came in three varieties with prices ranging from 59 Reichsmarks to RM 79 ($23.60 - $31.50). The Deutscher Klein-Empfänger 1938 (DKE 1938) is described as the “Sensation of the 1938 Broadcasting Exhibition” and is priced at 35 Reichsmarks ($14.00) in this up-to-date looking 85 year old catalog.
Page I/II has 12 paragraphs for “radio friends” to read before they look through the new electronics catalog for 1938-1939. They cover value for money, guarantees, customer service, mail order purchases, returns, repair, etc. The sign-off under this section is Heil Hitler!
There are many other radios in this catalog produced by AEG, Blaupunkt, Brandt, Braun, DeTeWe, Emud, Eumig, Ingelen, Kapsch, Loewe, Lorenz, Lumophon, Minerva, Saba, Siemens, Telefunken and other manufacturers. Some radios are priced as high as 650 Reichsmarks or US $260, to give you an idea of what a bargain the Volksempfänger were.
It is in very nice used condition and we only found one page where about a two inch piece of the upper right corner is torn off. This rare original 1938-1939 Radio-Literatur has no odor.
Also offered in this catalog are hundreds of loudspeakers, amplifiers, microphones, record players, record storage cases and stands, furniture for radio equipment, radio bulbs and batteries, antennas, switches, plugs and electrical cords, transformers, special screws, tools and other hardware for radios and record players, etc., etc. There are replacement speakers, phonograph needles, and even replacement bakelite housing for cracked or broken radios!
This rare 1938-1939 Nazi electronics catalog is ** SOLD **
