Dr. Achim Gercke, Rasseforschung und Familienkunde 1934
Dr. Achim Gercke, Dienststelle des Sachverständigen für Rasseforschung beim Reichsinnenministerium
He wrote this book on racial research and family in 1934, the same year Reichsleiter Philipp Bouhler appointed Gercke to be responsible for all matters relating to ancestry and family background research within the Nazi Party and NSDAP Administration. Dr. Gercke’s extensive and carefully established Kartei or card file was the basis of his 60 person department which was later renamed Reichsstelle für Sippenforschung (State Office for Family Research) which in 1940 became the Reichssippenamt.

Dr. Achim Gercke was also heavily involved in the creation of the Blutschutzgesetz (Law for the Protection of German Blood) of the Nürnberg Racial Laws of 1935!

Dr. Achim Gercke was a German scientist and an expert in racial research, employed at the Nazi Interior Ministry in Berlin after the National Socialist were elected to power. Prior to that he had been employed at the Nazi Party Braunes Haus in Munich, in charge of checking the aryan ancestry of Nazi Party officials. His research and his expertise were used to establish points 4, 5 and 7 (of 25) of the Parteiprogramm der NSDAP. He was also a member of the Reichstag or Parliament.
Dr. Achim Gercke, Rasseforschung und Familienkunde, Schriften zur politischen Bildung
This 5-½ x 8 inch, 20 page hardcover book Rasseforschung und Familienkunde (Racial Research and Family History) was considered politische Bildung (political education) and contained the “basics” of what the National Socialists considered essential regarding race, pure aryan German blood and the family (“the protector of the German race”) - all important concepts for the future and the destiny of Nazi Germany.

The book was published by Hermann Beyer & Söhne for the Deutscher Staat company in 1934, and this 90+ year old example was once part of a library in Berlin. There is a library label at the bottom of the spine and library number V280 in written on the front cover and front end papers.
