This is a rare original 1942 Third Reich publication, the Kriegsausgabe or War Edition of Offizier im Grossdeutschen Heer (Officer in the Greater German Army), a heavily illustrated guide published to help German men choose a career as an Officer in the German Army.

Inside the front cover is part of a speech Adolf Hitler gave to Officer candidates on 14 February 1942 which is followed by what is expected of Officers in the Wehrmacht, Hitler's thoughts on the spirit of German Officers, what level of schooling is required, where men can apply after the age of 16 (addresses in ten different cities in Nazi Germany), forms to fill out and which personal information needs to be supplied.

This section is followed by a synopsis of the missions of the Infantry, Artillery, Motorized Troops like the Panzergrenadiers, Engineers, Communication Troops and even Chemical Warfare Troops. Inside the back cover is information about what are called special careers: Medical Officer and Veterinary Officer.

This is an unusual, heavily illustrated 5-7/8 x 8-1/4 inch, 16-page softcover Third Reich military publication in good used condition. There is wear to the front and back cover which is detached from the internal pages of this 79 year old book. The staples are Third Reich originals.
