With tens of thousands of visitors coming each year in late summer for the Reichsparteitage in Nürnberg, it is only natural that many of those visitors would want a guidebook not only for Nazi Party Day events but to the sights of the old city as well.
This is an very good example of an excellent 4-1/2 x 7 inch, soft cover guidebook - the 38th edition of Schrag’s Führer durch Nürnberg - Die Stadt der Reichsparteitage (Guidebook Through Nuremberg - the City of the Reichs Party Days) by Dr. Wilhelm Schwemmer as published by J.L. Schrag verlag in Nürnberg in 1938.

Schrag verlag in Nürnberg in 1938.
Like any guidebook, this one contains a lot of information about the history, the layout and the sights to be seen in the subject city. Unlike most, this one starts right of with a list of the city’s hotels, guesthouses and rooming houses (shown above) along with a list of their facilities and costs. Interestingly, Der Deutsche Hof Hotel on Frauentorgraben (the hotel where Hitler stayed) is at the top of the list, though not the most expensive.
There is a special section devoted entirely to the Reichsparteitaggelände or the grounds of the Nazi Party Days and the sights to be witnessed there. There is a double-sided map inside the back cover with an excellent street map of Nürnberg and a very good map of the Nazi Party Day Grounds and its two railway stations on the south-east side of the city. The map is scotch taped to the back cover.
The last 16 pages of the book are advertising for Nürnberg products such as Lebkuchen, pewter plates, banks, toys, beer halls, souvenir companies, and breweries. The Siechen Bier ad is especially worth noting as their beer was served in the Deutscher Hof Hotel as well as in the Restaurant Park Deutzendteich on the Party Day Grounds.
