This is a historic, original example of the Wiener Mittag, a Vienna afternoon newspaper for Saturday 25 May 1940, shortly after the successful German invasion of France. The front page has a sharp rebuke by Reichspressechef Dr. Otto Dietrich to the King of England George VI’s ‘Day of the Empire’ speech of 24 May - “Your Speech was not Regal , it was Pathetic.”

Two weeks into the May 1940 German invasion of Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France this 12-¼ x 18-½ inch 8-page Nazi newspaper contains lots of interesting war news as well as photos of a destroyed hangar and airplanes in Rotterdam and battle damage in France.

This 82 year old edition of Wiener Mittag is complete and in very nice condition. It has no unpleasant odor.

The caption of the cartoon below translates as, "for the foreseeable future England is expecting a significant increase in the import of quality steel."
