This is a wonderful Third Reich map book of Deutschland - Das Land der Schönen Autostrassen (Germany - the Land of Beautiful Motorways), published by oil producer and gas station operator NITAG, a company formed in 1938 by the buying out and combining of several existing German, Russian, British, American and Danish oil companies. Aside from maps of Germany this NITAG Autokarte has listings of the location of all NITAG Zapfstellen or gasoline stations in the country.

This 6-1/4 x 10-5/8 inch map book has Nazi Germany divided in 13 areas and the individual brightly colorored fold-out maps of these areas measure 10-½ x 10-½ inches. The maps show the Reichsautobahn (finished, under construction and planned stretches) and smaller highways in a scale of 1:1000.000 (1 mm on the map equals 1 kilometer). On the back are city maps of bigger cities in these regions as well as illustrations of important historical sights in them. City maps include Berlin, Munich, Nürnberg, Chemnitz, Stettin, Stuttgart, Kassel, Bremen, Hamburg, Halle, even Königsberg in East Prussia. There are travel tips and oil advertising as well.

Inside the back cover is a large fold-put map of Gau Ostmark from Bregenz in Vorarlberg to Vienna in the east. This 10-¾ X 18-¼ inch color map is in a scale of 1:1,250.000 and is frequently missing, torn out.

This 75+ year old Nazi era glovebox map book is very rare, it is complete and in very good used condition.
